hello my fax is a standart g3 fax and has THREE modes for operating: - standard resolution 3.85 lines/mm with a resolution of 8 degrees of brightness- high resolution 7.8 lines/mm with 8 degrees of brightness - very high resolution (used for photos) 7.8 lines/mm but 64 degrees of brighness. the big deal is, that only the sending machine needs to know how to read 64 degrees of brighness, the receiving fax can print it if it is a group 3 fax. anyway, using the very high resolution, the transmitting time increases very much. all of the above have a horizontal resolution of 8 dots / mm. regards rainer. -- Rainer Foeppl email: cfor@ciba-geigy.ch
