[comp.dcom.fax] International FAX machines?

wayne@ultra.com (Wayne Hathaway) (04/19/91)

My wife works with the NASA people who are investigating "the ozone
hole," and she asked me to solicit the Wisdom Of The Net on the
following question. (She has net access, but not news access.)

They need to buy some FAX machines for their next deployment,
and these machines will have to function in (at least) the US,
Norway, and Chile. Should they be looking at buying something
like "International FAX machines" to be able to do this? Or is
"a Fax a Fax the world around" and any old machine will do?

If possible, please reply directly to her at:

                      hathaway@hec.arc.nasa.gov

If you can't get through to her, feel free to send me any information
you might have to share. And thanks a lot!

As the byline on my fax cover sheet reads:

	Fax Anywhere in the World
	Standards made it happen!

Just make sure your machine is 110/220 V.

And the dialling procedure should be the same and .... There are differences, but
not in the FAX standard. Therefore most major companies have installation menues
build into there machines to adapt the different national PBX standards.
