In researching a solution to one of our needs, I have found that Faxen for our systems, (SunSparc), tend to be VERY 'spensive. It occurs to me that a FAX with a serial port on it, and a simple protocol to dial and dump a file, &c. would be a very useful tool. Does such a beast exist? If not, is there simple/good/usable softs to do this kind of thing on a PC or a MAC? Ie: a PC/MAC with a FAX board and a rs232 port, grab the file from the port and send it via FAX? Your help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. /rr -- "I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti." -Lector

The box speaks "EIA Class I" fax protocols, whatever those are. A tech support person I talked to said they were basically Hayes command extensions. Look in recent _Communication Week_ issues for the fullpage ad. I am awaiting further information, but the Tech Support and Applications people haven't seen much to date either, it is that new.
