I have a friend who needs to decode images that have been compressed using the CCITT image compression (I believe group 4). He is therefore looking for some documentation that describes the compression. Could someone email me how to get ahold of such a document? Thanks. -- Keith Trummel Island Graphics Corporation {sun, uunet}!island!trummel trummel@island.com

In the US ANSI sells the CCITT Specs. Ansi's phone for orders is
212/642-4900. The problem is figuring out which volumes group IV
is in. I believe they're in volumes VII.3 through VII.7 (at least that's
the volumes my company just ordered). The cost is some where around
$200, plus 7% shipping and handling.

The group 4 coding specification is in volume VII.3, recommendation T.6; I ordered a copy from Document Center (415/591-7600) last year for about $90. I remember it took a few months to get the book, so if your friend needs the information soon, you might want to look elsewhere...
