[comp.sys.acorn] RAP posting troubles

as@castle.ed.ac.uk (A Stevens) (12/23/90)

Has anyone out there managed to get an uncorrupted version of the first
part of the ``rap'' posting? The posting says:

sum -r/size 15114/59868 section (from "begin" to last encoded line)

Wheras I get

-rw------- 1 as 59871 Dec 23 10:51 rap1
42737 59

Where the three extra characters crept in is mysterious since if you chop
of the begin line the length of the file is a multiple of the uuencode
line-length.

Yup, worked fine first time around, just concated the UUcoded bits and had
Spark handle the rest.
When I saw the posting I thought it would be a substitute to the dreaded
Pilling-Hearsay (Still the closest I can get to a decent coms package, haven't
seen the latest ARC-term) but I was greatly dismayed at seeing the thing
in the flesh.
Whereas this is not free software (yes, read the info bit) I feel free to say
it was not worth the time it took to upload. The name of the author and
program are constantly underlaid in big (not at all friendly) letters
on the background of the terminal-window, what a strange attempt at publishing
one's name.
Don't get me wrong, I do not object to posting shareware to the net but
a human readable part of the posting has to indicate so!
