Is anyone using IDE drives on their Archimedes yet? What are they like? Is the only card for them the one by Ian Copestake Software? How good is the IDE filing system software - does it perform background disk access? Is it really as quick as the 16-bit SCSI interfaces? With IDE (PC AT) drives at prices such as 300 pounds for 90Mb (from Computer Shopper) this solution looks a very attractive alternative to SCSI. What are the real limitations of this interface? I heard that only two devices (currently only disks) are supported - is this correct? What do people know?
