Hello, All. I'll add my voice to those other Beeb/Master/Elk/Atom(!) owners out there. Sure, the Archie's a whizzo machine, and I'd just luv to get me paws on one, but a) It's mucho expensive (still!), b) I'm waiting for em to port over stuff like Elite, and also Sim City and Populous... it's crying out for decent games. My current setup is a Master 128 + Turbo Board, a Morley 20MB hard disk, and a Hi-Tec EC2400 for the comms stuff. Unfortunately, Compulink doesn't have a proper Usenet reader/writer at the moment, so I have to grab Usenet postings and plough thru em offline on me Master, then write me replies by hand... Ugh! I used to own an Elk (electron) before that. Over on FidoNet, there's plenty of 8-bit stuff going around, including several comms packages, and other useful bits. If and when the Usenet Gods set up a comp.binaries.acorn area, I'll look into placing some of this material on the net... some of it is very good - most of it is Public Domain too. Incidentally, there's been a sudden growth of Beeb PD Software Libraries here in the UK. I'll post a report sometime on these, and their wares. Watch this space! -> [...] Alan Ralph, Compulink Information eXchange, Surbiton, UK. aralph@cix.compulink.co.uk } official.. almost aralph@compulink.co.uk } if that fails JANET users do it back-to-front.
