[comp.sys.acorn] Howdy all!

Hello world!
I can finally post to this group (I think!)

OK, so assuming this post works, I have a minor gripe about Translator
(prick up your ears J.Kortnik!)

I am glad to see Translator 6.36 is now out... I dare say I'll send you
some spondulicks in due course...
(No, that's not the gripe, that's lulling you into a false sense of
security!)

I have just converted quite a volume of Degas piccies.
I used 3 different versions of Translator on them, I think
5.34 (?), 5.70, and 6.24.

5.34 does pretty well on Degas, usually getting them right
5.70 would corrupt the occasional line or group of lines with random
     pixels.
6.24 didn't manage to get many right at all, outputting corrupt lines
and also inserting blank lines occasionally down most images.

I don't know if this problem has been fixed already, but I thought you
might be interested... Especially as the cure at present seems to be
reverting several versions back!!

What's that, a spondulick ?

This is WEIRD. Degas has not been changed at all if I remember correctly.
But I'll take your word for it. Guess it's got something to do with RL
encoding : some coders continue RL series over line boundaries when the
format specifically requires it *not* to. It's a pain in the ***.

I need the piccies you fed it. Otherwise I can do *nothing*. Send
them to kortink@cs.utwente.nl (uuencoded and compressed please).

To whom it may concern : please stop assuming I have all formats in
all possible 'configurations'. Always send the offending pics and
you can be sure I'll look at it very quickly. Otherwise : fat chance.

Wot, no SIG ? No, can't find it.
