By now I'm sure some of you are wondering when the flow of binaries and sources is going to begin .... here's the latest news. I now have my posting facilities arranged (thanks Fil!), I'm still playing with an internal test newsgroup at the moment, but intend to start postings 'real soon now'. Thanks to everyone who's sent things for posting - you know who you are :-) Further to my last posting, where I asked for opinions on the posting method... a) The LZJU90 algorithm is out of the running now, since I'm informed that the LZ encoding it uses is the subject of copyright in some locations. b) Sparked uucoded postings seem to the subject of strong opinions both for and against. c) Fil's !Submit/!Extract is beginning to look like the best option, though a little work is needed to bring it up to date. As before, any feedback by *mail* please. Following on from a suggestion by Graham Toal, I'm changing my way of titling postings slightly to use the target operating system instead. The categories are therefore: RISC OS - Any Archimedes or BBC A3000 RISCiX/Unix BBC MOS Unless qualified, BBC MOS programs are expected to work under emulation, and on any variant of the BBC MOS (ie 1.20, 2.00, 3.20 etc). I'll be guided in this by information from the originators of the program, so don't blame me if I'm wrong!! Alan
