I have recently been given a really old hard-drive. A real ST506 (single head, 5M!) enormous 5.25" box. I am having some trouble getting this beasty to format on the Arch. Reading and writing works just fine (I can format track 0) - but head motion messes up badly. This happens even when the relevant pairs of lines for slow stepping drives HFORM are commented in/out. Does anyone have any experience of similar troubles and/or suggestions? Any known bugs in/newer versions of HFORM? Do you need to modify it further for *extra* slow stepping drives?
