The latest issue of Risc User carries an ad by a company called IFEL based in Portsmouth. They offer a 4 MB memory upgrade for a 310, including MEMC 1a, for just 299 pounds, including VAT. This just sounds too good to be true - does anyone have some more information on this? After what happened to this Glasgow company (I've forgotten its name) I am very suspicious of such ads.... You can ring them up and they send you a free factsheet, which is most enlightening, describing the product in detail and the fitting procedure. They will fit it themselves for an extra 100 pounds (including courier both ways and VAT). As to the cheap price, it is due to go up to about 350 pounds at the end of April; and they say the reason it is cheaper than the other A310 upgrades is because the others are a rip-off. They compare it to much cheaper A3000 RAM upgrades. jon. IFEL are a very respectable company - they've been knocking out good backplanes (used by Oak!), among other things, for ages. Does anyone have the address of the above mentioned outfit?? Also, how much work is required to fit the upgrade?? - and will it fit any A310? - my machine is a very early example of the breed.
