Hi

1. There is a change to access software from a ftp-server with mail.
You mail a request to bitftp@pucc.princeton.edu, and if bitftp can
mail back to you, your files comes a few days later in uuencoded form.
Mail a message with help to bitftp@pucc.princeton.edu, and a discription
   of commands should come back.

2. Would somebody be so kind and post a list of Janet-servers and the
directories where to find some acorn-archimedes-software ?

3. On Newcastle, there is a ACK-backend available. I don't know really
what to do with it, but I think, you need much more stuff to make
something with it. From where you can get the rest of it and has
   somebody produced a PDsoft/FREE/Share-ware-binary with it ?

4. The internet-ftp-server rusmv1.rus.uni-stuttgart.de searches for
some PDsoft/FREE/Share-ware texteditor program. If you are a author
of such a program and want to public it, or know a netserver with
something like that, mail to me.
   I heard also about a "ZAP-Debugger" is it PDsoft/FREE/Share-ware ?

5. In past there was a discussion about to avoid the <press space or
click mouse to continue> message. What was the must easiest solution ?

6. I heard that there are 2 implementations of MINIX to come:
A minix version of PATZEL and a minix Version of KOELMANS:
I think it's interessing to compare both, but I only talked with
PATZEL. I write what he told me ( if I understood all correct ),
can anyone tell what KOELMANS minix does ?

   PATZELs minix:

uses a virtuell memory-concept, if there is no more memory available,
memory is freed by bringing the contents of memory temporary to the
   harddisk. 8-)

allows to start riscos from minix and come later back. You habe 500KB
   RAM-memory under riscos. 8-)

at least 1MB of RAM-Memory is required. 8-)

all memory- and operation-system-accesses are guarded and ends with a
coredump, if one task try to demage a other task. 8-)

at least 20MB of Harddisk-space is required. 8-)

uses lowlevel-routines of the building-riscos-chips, therefore most all
harddiskinterfaces, which work under riscos, will also work under it's
   minix. 8-)

no riscos-floppy-interface is available. floppy operations must be
done with various interfaceroutines via riscos. 8-(

no own C-compiler is available. 8-(

can only publiced, if some patch-programms will be ported to riscos
(the programms are written in C). 8-(

the whole thing belongs to a institut of informatic science, and it's
   not clear, if the Institut will allow the publication.    8-{

what are the features of KOELMANs minix ?

7. Is the Info-server@newcastle.ac.uk always on duty ? I tried to get
SML which he tell me have 7 parts, but got no more than 4 parts.

8. What I know about the Clib is: It contains some routines you do not want,
also when you rmkilled the modules that belongs to the routines.
Why not split the Clib into peaces which belongs to the modules and load
or drop it together with the module ?
I think this is more useful then fill the memory up with some routines
"that noone should use" ( remember some articles about C-libs ).

9. Just to be curious: the ARM belongs 30 registers, but only 15 are avail-
able for the user. What do the other registers ? Riscos doesn't make
"real" multitasking (no multitasking under Shell-cli, if you press
PF 12 and do nothing more, the whole computer idles ...).
Riscos doesn't make much memory-checking to protect task against each other,
so what does the other registers ?
If you send more register to the user, his program may be become faster .....

10. why not build a memory-dimmer into the keybord ?
If you have a program uses that much next space and a program that uses
much free space you must always press so much the poor mouse to
push the memory you have, into the right catagory.
A dimmer in the keyboard is tre' elegante', will decrease the used time and
is more friendly to the animal.

so long

ps: How to transport Files to the ftpserver rusmv1.rus.uni-stuttgart.de:

a) I send you a disk with international stamps to you, and you send the disk
with the software back to me.

b) You mail the Files in archived uuencoded form.
Please use a common archiver and use a encoder that writes a table-command !
                                    =========================================
(cause there might be some "character-crunshers" on the way to me)
   to:
   ZRZM@DS0RUS1I.BITNET
   zrzm@rusvm1.rus.uni-stuttgart.de
   zrzm0111@helpdesk.rus.uni-stuttgart.de

c) You send the file via bitnet with sendfile (VM/CMS) or send/file (VMS)
   to:
   ZRZM AT DS0RUS1I

d) If we can find a resonable time ( MEZ-standart/summertime ), I can bring
temporaery a IBM-PC as FTP-uplouder into the internet.
Mail me first for internet address and for the time I must switch on the PC.
