From m90rjw@uk.ac.oxford.ecs: -------- This is being posted by a friend for me, please reply to me not him... Having written !Larger (a sort of Task organiser, Sticky backdrop utility, Virtual desktop program), I was very interested to see an advert for a proggy called TWO (Task and Window Organiser) by Ian Copestake Software, which appears from the ad to do more or less what !Larger does. Is there anyone out there with a copy of TWO? Even better, is there someone with !Larger and TWO? I would like to know what TWO does that !Larger doesn't (if anything), so I can improve it. If you do not have a copy of !Larger, and you would like one, either mail me, or retrieve it from the Newcastle info-server. If you have any ideas as to how !Larger can be improved, please let me know. For those of you using !Larger, I have a little utility, to make printing text from the desktop simpler. 1) Create a directory called !Printer (or whatever) 2) If you want, save a pretty sprite in !Sprites 3) Create an Obey file containing the following command, and save it in the directory as !Run Copy %0 Printer: ~C ~V %*1 4) Drag this new directory onto the !Larger backdrop, and set the Drag Onto flag. Whenever you drag a text file onto the icon on the backdrop, it will be printed out as raw ascii. The application does not claim a wimpslot to run, so there should be no problems there. (And it works with any version of Clib :-) ) This works in the same way as dragging a text file to a window opened by "Filer_OpenDir Printer:". Presumably this should also work for other devices such as Serial:, or Vdu: (I haven't tested this) I hope this is of some help to someone, Robin P.S. Please be prepared for a slow response if you try and contact me, as I am away from University for the Vac, so all my mail has to be redirected to me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Janet: m90rjw@uk.ac.oxford.ecs Snail Mail: St Catherines College or 217 Waterhouse Moor Oxford, OX1 3UJ, UK Harlow, CM18 6BW, UK ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "The opinions expressed above are mine, only if they don't get me into trouble" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- _________________________________________________________________ / --Jonathan Harley ____ // // // / PHONE:-091 222 8504 \+-/ How's Annie?? // // ////// /__J.W.Harley@newcastle.ac.uk \/ _____________________________/////////// //
