[comp.sys.novell] Novell 386 Conflicting with IBM 3270 Emulator

9531fost@ucsbuxa.ucsb.edu (12/13/90)

I are having software conflicts while trying to run Novell's
IPX and Net3 shell simultaneously with IBM's Personal Communications
3270 Emulation program on a Token Ring Network. The Novell IPX and
Net3 Shell run flawless by themselves, as does the emulator, but
when the three are run together the workstation locks up immediately.
I would appreciate any solutions or ideas regarding this problem
as well as other problems that have been encountered while using
the Novell IPX and Net3 shell in conjunction with other programs.

Thanks

Sounds like a memory problem - you should use a program like VMM.EXE
to examine your memory structure. I've had similar problems - my
640K AT locks up on some programs - gives up on others - and
WordPerfect just can't seem to find any disks to play with. Your NET3
can probably be shrunk. We had two separate Token Ring systems - one
running Novell, the second running netbios (to access NCR Towers).
Had to reboot to switch between the two.

Hi

I had same problem 2 years ago. We solved it by using difrent version
3270 emulator program. We had 36S and 286 , 386 novell file servers.
Thats all what I remember. You must be carefull whit printer
redirection if you use both. After emulator and novell there is not
much space in memory. If you have 386 whit extra memory it is best to
have QUEMM or other multitasking/memory controll program.
You can anyway change your program start up proses. It might solve
your problem.
