I've got an network with 3 servers, 2 with netware 286 sft 2.15c and one with netware 386 3.1a. The servers are on an ethernet (thinnet) backbone and the workstations (120 or so) are on utwp arcnet with the workstations fairly evenly divided among the two 286 servers. I have no problem using Norton's NCD (version 4.5 or 5.0) on the 286 servers but on the 386 server where I have a 40 Mb SYS: volume and two 650 mb volumes (VOL31: and VOL32:), the following problem occurs consistently regardless of which version of NCD I use and regardless of which drive letter is mapped to VOL32: It only happens with VOL32: the other volumes on the 386 server are fine. I have 8 subdirectories under the root directory of VOL32: When I use NCD to display the subdirectory tree, only the first of these (\BACKUPS) is displayed. The entire subtree under \BACKUPS is displayed but none of the other subdirectories on this volume are displayed. DOS's DIR command and NOVELL's NDIR command both show all the directories. I've tried deleting the .NCD files and I've tried asking NCD to re-scan the volume. I've even tried creating a new directory withing NCD. The directory gets created, and appears on the tree but as soon as I re-scan or exit and restart NCD, the new directory disappears. DIR and NDIR find the new directory.
