[comp.sys.novell] CCMAIL <-> Internet

hubcap@hubcap.clemson.edu (System Janitor) (01/30/91)

Hi...

I'm the local Unix system administrator here at Clemson's computer center.
Someone asked me the following question, and since I've never even
SEEN a Novell network :-) I thought I'd ask y'all:

 * I'm looking for a software package that will allow CCMAIL on a Novel network
 * to send and receive mail from Internet. Know of any?

Thanks for any help...

-Mike

I have just such a package running here, which is an altered version of one that Al
Marshal at Proteon (acm@relay.proteon.com) distributes. I'm sure he'd be glad to get you
one, if you drop him a note. Also, cc:Mail Inc. has a commercial version called SMTPlink
for $3K or so, which is, well, not quite perfect, but it works.

My opinions, of course. And don't hold me to them.

Mike -

I don't know anything about CCMAIL. But Pegasus Mail v2 (Pmail) will do
internet mail. Version 2 is in beta right now. Release date is Feb 1.
Pmail v1 is available from many ftp sites. Version 2 will be loaded to
sites today or tomorrow (NZ time). Pmail is shareware and cheap, so
you may want to take a look at it. It may also be possible for CCMAIL
to use pmail's SMTP gateway. I will look into that...

Cheers
KLox

cc:Mail has a SMTP gateway which takes care of this, if that helps any...

CC:MAIL now makes an x.400 interface, but i'm not sure how it
works... if your interface to the internet uses x.400, it may be
what you're looking for. you can call CC:MAIL at (800) 448-2500
for info on their entire product line...
