Hello! I hope you fellow netters can help me. We recently upgraded our file server from an IBM PS/2 Model 70 (4 MB RAM, 120 MB ESDI HD) to an IBM PS/2 Model 80-A31 (16 MB RAM, 320 MB SCSI HD). We use Advanced NetWare 286 v. 2.15c. The operating system and all the files have been loaded on the new server, and data files from the old server have been transferred. Here's the problem: response time on the new server is e-x-t-r-e-m-e-l-y slow. Here's where it gets tricky: As more users access the server and use the services, response time dramatically improves! We did not ever encounter this situation with the Model 70 server. On the new server, one user executing the login command can take 3 minutes. However, two users can logon simultaneously in 3 seconds, and 3 users in less than 2 seconds. I know that seems to defy all logical explanation. That's why I need advice. Does anyone else know of his problem? If so, what is the solution? Any response, either posted or e-mailed, would be greatly appreciated. By the way, we run Novell on 16Mbps Token-Ring. Thanks in advance! Tom -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Tom Conway State of Maryland Dept. of Economic & | | Employment Develpoment--Office of Info.
