Hi ... Just getting ready to do our first upgrade (we already have a site with 386 installed, but we started with it...didn't upgrade). We have a question regarding the UPGRADE "backup" procedure...or maybe several questions. The scenario is this: The server has a 310Mb hard drive of which about 140Mb is being used. We do our regular backups on an Emerald 60-13000 device (60 Mb tapes). But there is no device driver for this backup system, so it can't be used to make the Novell UPGRADE backup (or "transfer"). But I don't have another hard drive that's large enough to take the 140Mb that we have on the server. I know that there are options to do the backup piecemeal (bindery, and then by directories), but that still doesn't relieve the problem as to where I put the pieces 8-(. SO...I have 2 questions, I guess. 1) Why is the Novell backup important for "regular" files (I know about binderys, etc.). ... and 2) does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do if I NEED to do the Novell backup for all the files. And I just thought of a third question...I think that I saw some option where you could crunch the files. Is that the case, and if so, how much does it crunch them? Thanks in advance ... Syl
