Hello Netters: Let me Recap our Problem. We are running Windows on Netware 386. When we open a Network File, and then leave it idle for some time, and then come back and try to access that file, windows used to just sit idle doing nothing for a while. Apparently, they were having trouble finding the N/W file, or something was wrong. Well, we finally figured out what was wrong. But first, I would like to thank all the people who took some time out to think about our problem and flash us a mail or two, we really appreciate it a lot. We upgraded to Shell Version E, and that solved all our problems. Here is what we think was happening: As pointed out in the new version, up till now, the File Caching Feature was Inactive in Netware, Ver. E activates it, and that is the key to our problem. Now if we leave a Network file open on Windows, and forget about it for a long time, even then it will work like a charm later on when we come back. So at least for now, we have solved that problem, and hopefully it will stay like that. I wonder what other features are still inactive, which we are using anyway assuming that they work..... We downloaded the new files from a Clarkson site probably, I am not sure, but if anyone wants to know, please send me mail, I will look-up into my records and let you know.
