HELP!!!! I have Advanced Netware 2.15 and I want to get the updated shells to run Window 3.0 I've download dswin1 through dswin4 and unzipped them into my /generate/netware/... directories. I run the "new, simple" :-( shgen program, but when shgen tries to link my new ipx.com it complains about "An error occured while linkink IPX. Error = 9. <Press Escape to Continue>" and then complains about "An error occured while configuring IPX. Error =1". Any hints or suggestions would be appreciated. - thanks in advance --------------------------------------------------------------- Daniel Ching XES Versatec Products (408) 982-4337

Be sure that the .obj files are in the correct subdirectories. Dump the .net descriptor files to discover the subdirectory names that shgen is expecting. -- ****************************************************************************** Ken Haynes, Certified Netware Engineer Technical Support Product Mgr. 900 Support

There's a bug in shgen that makes it complain about a rename when a file with the new name already exists. This only affects certain versions of MS-DOS, I believe. There's also a bug with the BYU packet driver shell that causes errors when using the new shgen or netgen. Unfortunately, I don't remember the details. If you're using the BYU shell, this could be the problem. Flame on: Why can't Novell learn how to do decent error handling? I am getting seriously tired of idiotic "Oops. This error was never supposed to happen, so we'll just tack a meaningless number on it" errors. "Professional" programmers should know better. At the least, _DOCUMENT_ the error numbers!!! Flame off. I feel better now... :-) -- Stephen Trier Case Western Reserve University Work: trier@cwlim.ins.cwru.edu Information Network Services Home: sct@seldon.clv.oh.us %% Any opinions above are my own. %%
