I have been having trouble getting Rprinter, the background printer program under Netware 3.1, to print at acceptable speeds on ANY Xt compatible Zeniths. I have tried 3 models of XTs running 3 versions of DOS and still the best I can get is Rprinter to print about 1 line every 4 minutes!! When I had the same XTs set up as dedicated print servers using Pserver.exe I had the same problem unless I told the print server not to use interrupts on LPT1:. Unfortunately, Rprinter requires that you use interrupts (specifically - 7) when printing to LPT1: on a workstation. Has anyone heard of the feature/bug or know of a fix. Do any of you compuservers know of a Rprinter update released after version 3.1 of Netware? thanks -- +---------------------------------+----------------------------------------+ | Paul Nazario | Bitnet: Nazario@UKANVAX | | Academic Computing Services | Internet: Nazario@KUHUB.CC.UKANS.EDU | | University of Kansas | Phone: (913) 864-0421 | +---------------------------------+----------------------------------------+

They do *not* work together at all. Other than that, I haven't had any trouble getting rprinter to work. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Karin Coffee Intel Supercomputer Systems Division Network/System Administration 15201 NW Greenbrier Parkway The LAN Lords Beaverton, OR 97201 karinc@isc.intel.com (503) 629-7693 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Help!! I have a _big_ problem with Netware 3.1 printing. I just installed an HPLJ II on LPT2: of the server/print server (we have only one server). Print jobs are queued correctly and printcon reports that it is "printing job" on the correct printer. However, nothing prints. All other printers work correctly. It worked OK _yesterday_!! The printer is configured for LPT2:, no interrupt. Other ports are: LPT1, IRQ7; LPT3, IRQ5. The server is a Compaq 386/25 and the parallel/serial cards are Compaq. Does anyone have any suggestions? My vendor has only a BBS for support and it can take days to get a reply. Have you tried to hook up a different printer to the printer port to see if the printer died? Have you hooked the printer to a PC with a known good LPT and printed anything? If it works one day and not the next, chances are either the printer is dead, or the LPT port went south. -- ****************************************************************************** * Ken Haynes, CNE | 1-900-PRO-HELP * Technical Support Product Manager, 900 Support * UUCP: {nosun, sequent, tessi} kenh@techbook
