Perhaps someone out there has experienced the following problem and has an answer or suggested remedy/workaround. This is on Netware 386 3.01a, running on an AST Premium 25 Mhz 386, 12 megs of RAM. The print server is run on the server, using the pserver.nlm module. Lately, the print server module locks up at seemingly random times, freezing the whole server. Only escape is a reset. So far, vrepair has shown only minor descrepencies in the print queue files, so we have been lucky so far. Only forign applications with a possible global effect in use is LAN Assist, by Fresh Technologies to make it possible to access other workstations without having to physically go to the location. This lockup is with no warning, printing just stops, the server freezes up, the little worm on the console stops, and of course all attached workstations that are accessing the LAN also get frozen. This happened once when starting the printserver (load pserver ...) a couple of months ago, and nothing wierd since, until now - its locked up twice in one week. I can discern no common thing between the incidents, other than a print job is being done. Anyone out there have any insight into this, probable causes, and possible fixes? Nothing has been changed on the server configuration-wise in the last few weeks - not even adding new applications. Just the usual addition/deletion of users. Unless this is deemed of general interest, e-mail would most likely be the best route for replies. Thanks for any ideas, help, etc.! -- pat@rwing (Pat Myrto), Seattle, WA ...!uunet!pilchuck!rwing!pat ...!uw-beaver!uw-entropy!dataio!/ WISDOM: "Travelling unarmed is like boating without a life jacket"
