I created an Echo packet using IPX header with packet type =2 and the destination and source socket =2. I then sent this packet to a Novell server running Netware. The server does not seem to reply to it. My question is does Netware support the Echo protocol?. If it does then is the server not responding because of incorrect socket values? And is there any way to get the right values from Novell. If Netware does not support the Echo protocol is it possible to obtain similar functionality some other way. In other words I am trying to test if a node on the network is up and running. What I was hoping to do was send out an Echo request and wait for a response. If I do not receive a response within a specified time I assume the network is too congested or the node is down. Comments, suggestions welcome. = Rohit Mital Internet : rm@hpctdlb.col.hp.com Voice : (719) 531-4786
