So, a previous consultant left behind some interesting droppings on the LAN I've just started helping to organize: Lanport. They didn';t leave any docs, or anything useful like that, just a couple of executables that look like some sort of serial port sharing software for Netware. Does anyone out there know what it is or why I should tell these people [not] to get rid of it (or maybe to by a real copy)? IE: What does it do? Many thanks, Rich

It is basically a self-contained print server. It has a LAN card built-in (Ethernet, thick or thin, and Token Ring)... The beauty is that you don't have to dedicate a PC or hassle with non- dedicated print servers. However, be thankful that you have one! I've had one on order since middle of March -- they aren't expected to ship until June 1st. (ugh). It is made by Intel though, and any help/docs probably available from them BTW, Castelle also makes a similar product (cost more though), called the LANpress. We may have to go with Castelle if Intel doesn't ship on time... Aloha, Jonathan jons@cup.portal.com
