[comp.sys.novell] Building a LAN

Dan Fox <DLF114@psuvm.psu.edu> (04/24/91)

I work for a Fast Food Restaurant Licensee who is looking to computerize his
three store operation. Since I know little about networks, I hope someone
out there might help. This is the direction I"m heading (hopefully it's the
right one). I envision a 386 based machine for our office that would be used
as File Server, and for tasks such as accounting, payroll, and word processing.
In each Restaurant I plan a workstation that would access the offices 386,
its main use would be for inventory control, inter-store communication, and wor
d processing. Also each store has "Panasonic" "POS" computer registers, I
would like to access these for sales, and product mix information. What kind
of Hardware and Software would be necessary to accomplish this, and what
would all this cost?
                               Much thanks, for any help!
