Hi, We have a network partly set up, with a lot of type 1 plenum cable laid in our ceilings. Originally, it was intended that the network be token-ring based, but the cost of token-ring cards is prohibitive. About one-third of the network is in use; the other connections are just sitting in the walls. Anyway, we are considering running 10baseT instead of token-ring. We want to use HP's cards and concentrators, though that is not graven in stone. The $64000 question, then, is ... can we use our existing wiring? After all, it IS twisted pair ... I figure there should be an adapter of some sort that will connect a 10baseT NIC to a type 1 plenum cable. Does anyone know if such a beast exists? And where I can get it? And how much it costs? Also, does anyone know of any other compatibility problems we might run into? Ideally, we would keep one server for the existing token-ring connections, and have two servers on the 10baseT net, with a bridge between them. Suggestions, anyone? Thanks! tjm
