Our campus has a problem with Netware for Macintosh, and I was wondering if anyone out there had any suggestions for solutions. We have a large internetwork with lots of Novell servers (2.15C), some of whom are running MacVAP's, and all of whom are happy with the way things work right now. Well, we want to upgrade the campus network to Appletalk Phase II for support and functionality reasons. Everything is ready to upgrade except -- you guessed it -- the Novell fileservers. Due to a "feature" in Netware for Macintosh 2.0 running Phase II that was previously discussed in this group (MacVAP's 2.0 running Phase II places a "*" in the zone field of an NBP BrRq when it should have put the zone name -- a problem admittedly caused at least partially by an ambiguity in Inside Appletalk 2nd Ed.), our Novell servers cannot run Phase II in our (cisco) routed environment. Novell fixed the problem with Netware 2.2 and the MacVAP's released with this product. Unfortunately, the VAP's shipped with 2.2 do not seem to fix the problem when run on a 2.15C server (although why not is a mystery to me). The long and short of it is: some of our users can't afford to upgrade Netware, and shouldn't have to, since Phase II was supposed to be supported with MacVAP's 2.0. Does anyone out there (particularly anyone from Novell) have any ideas for a solution (besides paying money for a product we supposedly already have paid for)?? Has anyone else had or will have this problem?? Thanks for any info anyone can give me!! ========================================================================= Geoffrey W.
