[comp.sys.novell] DIGITAL DEPCA CARDS FOR NOVELL

t_anstey@darwin.ntu.edu.au (05/09/91)

Can anyone out there advise me as to an FTP site from which I can obtain
Novell ethernet drivers for Digital Equipment Corporation range of DEPCA
cards.

We have a network of PCSA PCs accessing a VAX and we have recently connected
a Novell system to it. We wish to access the Novell system via the DEPCAs.

Please mail me directly if anyone can help.

Tery

Pathworks for DOS (which is basically PCSA 4.0) uses NDIS rather than hard
coded drivers. To this end DEC have produced NDIS drivers for the DEPCAs.
If you can't get your hands on IPX for DEPCAs (I don't know if it exists)
you might try and get the NDIS drivers, and then get the IPX/NDIS drivers
that exist out there somewhere. (Or do you need packet drivers in there as
well. Does anyone know the correct smiley for puzzlement and bewilderment :-)?
In theory at least, it should be possible to reach a Novell server from
a Pathworks node by loading an IPX stack into NDIS. If you have any luck
let me know. (If I every get my hands on our copy on Pathworks, maybe I'll
let you know!)
