Hi How much broadcast and routing traffic will be generated by a larger IPX network. As far as i know there is traffic generated by the IPX routing protocol RIP and there are the server announcements. Both of this information is what is distributed throughout the network. Is this correct, or is there other information that is flooded throughout the network too ? What i would like to be able to is to estimate how much traffic will be genereated on a larger IPX network by this administrative packets. - How often does a router announces its routes ? - How often does a server announces its services ? The problem is that many of the networks will probably be connected over slow 9600 baud lines and i want to be able to estimate how much bandwidth will be wasted by this kind of traffic. A questions that belong to this: - Is it possible in IPX RIP to specify a something like a default route like in IP ?
