I have two suggestions for getting around the problem of NetWare 3.11 not mounting the SYS: volume. Use the NetWare 3.1 ISADISK.DSK or try loading ISADISK with the /L switch (see the README file on the SYSTEM-1 (?) release disk). SYMPTOMS: When you upgrade your NetWare to version 3.11 or install 3.11 from scratch and start it up you may find that you cannot mount the SYS: volume. If you LOAD INSTALL you can examine the partitions and see that a NetWare partition exists, you just can't mount and use the darn thing. If you put back the NetWare 3.1 files and boot your server the SYS: volume will mount with no problem. SOLUTION: I can't take credit for the fixes, I received many helpful E-mail messages from many of you and assistance from Novell (for which they were friendly enough not to charge for). I will take credit for being a nice guy and posting the solutions. We were upgrading and so we had a copy of ISADISK.DSK from version 3.1 lying around. We replaced the 3.11 ISADISK with the old version and SYS: mounted with no problem. If you don't have the older ISADISK.DSK, and you can't beg/borrow/steal one, you might try modifying the STARTUP.NCF file command line that loads ISADISK so that "/L" or "/B" occurs on the line (I am told that the syntax is not position dependent). You can read about this in the README file on one of the NetWare 3.11 release diskettes. These didn't seem to solve our problem, and we were suspicious of the new ISADISK anyway, so we just used the older version. Good luck.
