Please help a poor soul:

        - i'm having trouble installing Mac VAPs (v2.0) on our NetWare server.
the file system okay, but i can't seem to manage to print from a
Mac on our HP LaserJet III (PostScript). The AppleTalk queues are
okay, the server and the queues appear in the chooser, and in the
Netware DA; but each time a print job goes out (*EXCEPT* the first
few times ..!?!), the same error is generated:

          The print manager returns either,

                -4097 Bad connection reference number
-4098 Request already active (most frequent)

        - now i've tried everything i could think of, without success. Could it
be that macs can only print on printers hooked onto LocalTalk ???
and not onto other PostScript printers (non AppleTalk) ??

        - it did work a couple of times .. coincidence ?

        - For thoses who might have an answer, here is our configuration:

	  	NetWare : v2.15C (HP i486)
	  	Mac VAPs : v2.0 (AppleTalk Phase 1)
Printers : HP LaserJet III (PostScript - no AppleTalk intf.))
	  	MacOS : 6.0.7
Printing : 6.1 (LaserWriter, Print Monitor, Backgrounder)
	  	AppleTalk: 2.0.2

Please, tell me the truth .. is there any hope ?

Precisely. NetWare for Macintosh only supports AppleTalk network
printers. PostScript isn't enough; the Printer Access Protocol (PAP) must
be supported by the printer.

Indeed. Insight Development Corporation has a product called Mosaic that
lets Mac users print on HP LaserJets over a Novell network. Mosaic
supports the following printers:
HP LaserJet +
HP LaserJet II
HP LaserJet IID
HP LaserJet IIP
HP LaserJet III
HP LaserJet IIID
HP DeskJet
HP DeskJet PLUS
HP DeskJet 500

You buy Mosaic at Novell-authorized and HP-authorized dealers. The price
is $395 for three users and $595 for ten users. Insight Development
Corporation is located at 2200 Powell Street, Suite 500, Emeryville, CA
94068. Their telephone number is 800-825-4115 or 415-652-4115.
