[comp.sys.novell] Packet Driver - Windows Problem

Stephen I Miller <similler@magnus.acs.ohio-state.edu> (05/21/91)

I am having a problem that has stymied me. I recently loaded the Clarkson
Packet driver for the 3Com 3C523 card and the BYU IPX for packet driver on
PS/2's on a NetWare 2.15c LAN. I did this so that I could use the packet
driver version of NCSA Telent. NCSA works fine, every application I have tried
has worked fine, EXCEPT PageMaker 3.0. The people on the LAN using PageMaker
can run ok for a while and then the application will lock up the PS/2 requiring
a reboot. Has this happend to anyone else and do you have a solution. I have
listed below what happens when I start the network workstation software.

E:\NCSAPKT>3c523 -n 0x62 5 0x350 0xc000

I've had PageMaker crash, and the answer was lack of memory. My user
would open Excel charts like crazy, then the machine would hang. If he
closes each chart as he goes, there's no problem. PageMaker squeezes so
much memory, it can't even display an Alert box, which leaves the user
mystified when the system goes away. Hope this helps.
