[comp.sys.novell] 386 3.1 Dumps Core!

jailbait@wookumz.gnu.ai.mit.edu (Jailbait) (05/17/91)

Last friday, our Netware 386 3.10 server crashed and dumped core. It
produced the following messages:

System halted Friday May 10, 1991 5:16:52 pm
Abend: RemoveFile called with invalid file handle.
OS version: Novell NetWare 386 V3.10 Rev. A 6/13/90
Running Process: Server 01 Process
Stack: E8 31 F1 FF 1C 32 F1 FF 00 00 00 00 34 C6 F3 FF
       8F 0E 02 00 05 00 00 00 FF 14 00 00 E6 3D F6 FF
       E6 3D F6 FF 60 34 08 00 F8 E7 09 00 00 00 00 00

Press "Y" to copy diagnostic image to diskette. Otherwise
Power off and back on to restart.

I also have 7 floppies full of core dump.

So. We know it has something to do with an attempt to do things with a
local (workstation) serial port through FoxPro. That's about it.

What do I do with these disks. Where in the world of Novell tech
support do we go with this? Are they gonna want us to pay them before
they look at it (which would be really rude) or what?

Let me know. Please. This hasn't happened before, nor has it happened
since. We have 3.11 and will be upgrading soon. But I still want to
know what's up.

ALSO: Could someone mail me anything they've saved of the discussion
of a while ago about using the Packet Drivers, including problems,
etc., and where to GET them from.

Anyway, thanks much. I appreciate whatever you can tell me.

Yep they're gonna want payment first. Are you running any of the 3.1 patches?
Looks like you need them. Upgrading now would also help. Some (if not most)
of the problems in 3.1 were solved in 3.11 file deletion errors were one of
them.
