To: WIN3-L@UICVM, NOVELL@SUVM, comp.windows.ms, comp.sys.novell A few weeks ago I reported a problem in these groups that we had with printing from Windows in 386 enhanced mode under Netware 3.10. We always had garbage added to the print files. In the meantime we had hardware problems with the server machine leading to a total disk crash, so we had to start all over again and it took me sometime until I could research that problem further. A global thank you to all people who gave me some hints, but the tips that I got were mostly of the kind: change some parameter in one of the configuration files (config.sys, shell.cfg, win.ini) or move some TSR around, which might have helped in other situations, but unfortunately didn't help in our case. Well, finally I have found the cause of the problem with the old trick: remove one TSR after another, even if they seem totally unrelated to the question. The problem occurs, when I have a data path utility (DOS APPEND or DPATH) loaded *after* the Novell Shell. When instead I load them *before* Netware, the problems disappears and Windows prints as it is expected to. But like with most problems, this is still not the final answer for our installation, because this created another problem with Novell and data paths, which I will report in a separate posting in the Novell lists.
