I am looking for information on Netware Volume fragmentation. I would like to know if there are any reliable programs besides PC-TOOLS Novell defrag- mentor. Thank you very much. Howard S. Nichols UM - Dept. Pathology -- University of Michigan #### #### #### #### ## ### ## ## # ## ## ##

De-fragmenting is widely regarded as unnecessary in the context of a Novell server, hence the lack of products to perform this function. However, there is a brief article in the June 17 Lan Times which describes "Netoptimizer 2" from Ontrack Computer Systems, 800-752-1333. This product is described as boosting drive performance by grouping related files and reassembling fragmented data (as written by NetWare). It is for 2.x servers. $395 per server, expected to ship in October; a version for Netware 3 someday. I'm sure the usefulness of this utility is highly dependent on the context of its use. - Gary Chapman, New York University
