We are running Novell SFT V2.15C and want to take advantage of Novell's current special offer in the UK for upgrading to the new versions. We have two choices, 2.2 or 3.11, each of which will cost us about the same (We have less than 20 users at the moment). I am interested in the views of any of you who have upgraded from 2.15 to 2.2 or 3.11 (or maybe even both!). Specifically, - how difficult is it? (I assume 2.15 -> 2.2 is straightforward but 2.15 -> 3.11 is more difficult) - how long did it take? - what did you think of the new features? - did all of your old network facilities work ok? - Can existing VAPs be used under 2.2 and 3.11? - How easily can you get back to your original state (ie 2.15) if it all goes horribly wrong? (Our current configuration includes TCP/IP support via Micom InterLAN Gateway and software, Apple Macintosh support using the Dayna VAPs, and a UPS using the Elgar VAP. We also run Windows 3.0 and Oracle client/server over the network. You can see why I am cautious!)
