[comp.sys.novell] problems with postscript and rprinter

burrough@bronze.ucs.indiana.edu (michael burroughs) (06/27/91)

I have tried to set up both a QMS410 and an HP IIISi printer using
rprinter. I have tried infinite combinations of software which has
included:

Several revisions of the RPRINTER.EXE program.
PSERVER.NLM on a machine running 3.11 and PSERVER.EXE running on
	   a dedicated external machine.

No combination has ever worked. When I submit a postscript job the
printout is the actual postscript program that hasn't been interpreted.
I have tried using CAPTURE and printing directly from an application and
I have tried setting up a printcon job with the appropriate BYTE STREAM
setting. I have even turned off automatic sensing on the printers and
forced them into postscript only mode. Still nothing works. Of course,
if you TYPE FILE.PS > LPT1 from the workstation running RPRINTER,
everything works fine. These problems go away when you connect the
printer directly to the file server. Has anybody encountered this? Has
anybody solved this? Thanks in advance...
