[comp.sys.novell] DEC cards

cc_s470@kingston.ac.uk (Chris Eborn) (06/27/91)

We are thinking of buying DEC EtherWORKS Turbo cards, primarily to run
PCSA (groan). What we want to know is if we can get NetWare divers for
these cards. We are getting the run around from DEC who are telling us
to talk to Novell about it, from Novell who say `well you got the
cards fom Digital' and so on round and round in circles (yep, circles,
not even a nice dialectic spiral).
All help, *pointers, suggestions appreciated.

We use 3C503s without any problems under PCSA 3.x, and "Pathworks for Dos"
4.0 uses NDIS, so should work with just about any card. Unless there's a
very good reason, (price, which would really surprise me, or performance)
I'd be inclined to tell DEC that if they're not interested in helping you
out with Netware drivers, you won't buy their card. (Of course, this is most
effective if you are in the market for 100 cards, at #400 each!)

"Certainly, sir. Would that be Dry or Sparkling?"

I have an ipx for the dec cards from compuserve and another from
dec. There are no ODI drivers that I know of.. If you want to do ndis
you can suffer on your own...

I can send you the drivers if you want.
