Hi folks, We are running 386 3.10 Rev.A on one and 3.11 on a different network these are student labs and the workstations have local 52MB HDDs as well as a 3,5 and a 5,25 FDD. Only a couple of students need to use the harddisk. For the rest of them I would like to hide C: (what they do not know about, they cannot mess up!). Well, I had an idea: I generated two paths on my server, SYS:DUMMY/C . This subdir I filled with dummy entries as autoexec.bat, config.sys, /appl(.dir), /dat(.dir). The files just empty text files, the subdirs empty. The users get only the right to see the stuff, that's it Then I mapped SYS:DUMMY/C to C:, so they only see that camouflage stuff they cannot use for anything. Well, I still think the idea of camouflaging was nice, I just do not succeed to construct something like MAP ROOT with that sucker of C: Any idea how to solve the mapping problem ? Any other idea to solve the problm at all ? (no boot ROM, no DiskLock etc.!) Any help deeply appreciated ... thanx a lot to the experts ........... bye ....................................................................
