If I have a smallish (3-10 pages) technical report or computer oriented research paper, in Japanese, how would I best go about getting a translation into English? Assume a facsimile or perhaps even better a properly encoded machine-readable original. Also assume that the author(s) are not able to provide a translation. The subject material will probably be obscure enough relatively to ordinary language that a substantial portion of the vocabulary will be difficult for an ordinary native speaker. (I know some of the CS stuff I've read, allegedly in English, is hard to decode.) I'm posting from a .com site now, so I should probably consider whether it's OK or possible to have someone set themselves up as a translator, sending the texts in by fax or email, and emailing the results back for a fee. And then there's the question of what my rights are to the text, either to post it in whole or in part to the net, or to keep only for my own personal use, whatever. (Or in lieu of money, some kind of barter arrangement, or what-have-you...) --Ed Edward Vielmetti MSEN emv@ox.com
