Student organizers have advised us of the formation of a
local Coalition Against the War in the Gulf, which is holding
an organizational meeting this evening (Friday) and a vigil
Monday. The latter is "in support" of a group of students
who are heading for Ottawa on Sunday to mount a protest there
against Canadian involvement in the war against Iraq.

A general meeting of the Coalition is scheduled for Thursday,
January 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the campus centre, we are informed.

Organizers of the Coalition include Robert Bruckner (576-0504),
Marc (884-8621), Fiona (c/o the women's centre in the CC,
ext. 3457), and Pamela (742-6031).

An all-day "teach-in" about the war, scheduled for Tuesday,
is sponsored by the Federation of Students.

A prayer service responding to the beginning of the war was
held this afternoon under the sponsorship of the university's
Chaplains' Association.
