[comp.lang.clos] ILISP / fi.tar.Z ??

root@blakex.raidernet.com (Blake McBride) (04/13/91)

Upon receiving the message regarding the new release of ILISP, I tried
to download ILISP & fi.tar.Z (the CL online manual). Because of some
uunet problems I only received part of fi.tar.Z. Now I find that
fi.tar.Z is no longer available. Is their anyone out there who has a
copy of fi.tar.Z and can e-mail it to me? Sure would appreciate it.
Please e-mail me if you have it.

The contents of (as opposed to the interface to) the CL
online manual in the fi.tar.Z directory in the ILISP
distribution contains copyrighted Franz Inc. material.
The developers of ILISP at CMU did not (through an
oversight) obtain permission to include this copyrighted
material in ILISP. When we (at Franz) discovered that the
material was included, we informed CMU and they removed the
relevant portions of the distribution.

Franz Inc. acknowledges that the developers of ILISP were
acting in good faith when they included the relevant
material. Therefore, all those who received ILISP with the
complete fi.tar.Z directory are given permission to continue
using the material but NOT to distribute it to any other
person. In consideration for this permission, users must
(1) acknowledge that Franz Inc. owns the copyright to the
material and (2) agree not to redistribute the material.
Users who do not agree to those conditions must delete the
material from their computers.

Franz Inc. is currently in discussion with CMU to allow the
material to be distributed along with ILISP. A decision on
that point should be made in a couple of weeks.
