We have just set up a system for doing single frame animation recording onto video tape. We are using a Lyon-Lamb Minivas animation controller. The problem is that this system is in a lab with a number of other workstations and the Minivas beeps everytime it records a frame. I have read the manual on the Minivas and if it says how to stop the beeping then I have missed it. Has anyone run into this problem and arrived at a better solution than cutting one of the leads to the speaker? Dudley Irish dirish@math.utah.edu

Re MiniVas beeping. It seems to be a built-in function. Our latest Minivas manual does not say how to turn it off. We solved the problem by adding an Abekas A60 disk - then it only beeps every 750 frames! Also the disk is so noisy you cannot hear the beep. In addition, you can record about 3 frames a second instead of one every 40 seconds (PAL requires longer preroll than NTSC). Happy Christmas everyone. Chris Osland

However, if you call Lamb-Lyon they will tell you that you can turn the volume down (all the way off if you choose), by turning R47(?) which is near the speaker counterclockwise. I think I remember the correct number, but if when you open the case you don't find it, send me email or call Lyon-Lamb. That beeper is ANNOYING!
