I will grant that some things have changed, but to the GL beginner, the
older manuals DO have some handy pointers (most of the examples are simple
to "upgrade" if that's what you'd call it). I didn't infer that the older 
manuals should be used as manuals per se, but they do, in fact, help with
some basics. It would be easy enough to see by just perusing them!!
