[comp.graphics.visualization] Help Again !!!!!!!

pramodmm@milton.u.washington.edu (Pramod Mahadev) (04/05/91)

I am looking for a graphics package which is essentially 2-d graphics
I am dealing with representation of line diagrams, and for those of who not familiar with one line
diagrams they are essentially electric circuits representation with
the connecting lines , "lines" representing the connections between two points and the number
of these lines would be about 40 -50 per screen .The width of these lines would change based on the
values which are retrieved from a database.
so I dont know if it should have an access to the database and i would be . Basically I am looking for
something that can run x windows. Here again I am not sure if this sort of application i need a graphics package or a gui.
I am also involved in showing these lines as a geographical
map of USA and I dont know hoew to deal with it. These are all power lines which
are scattered all over the place . if possible i would also like to know
what language has to be used to generate those sort of displays .
Is there any way to have a contact with someone who is dealing with visualisation of electric power systems?
I AM A TOTAL NOVICE IN THIS FIELD
So I hope someone could help me out

Need help...

Ok, now Tgif, will do limited animation of lines, and includes an
example for an electrical circuit. Also, if your database is consistant
then it should be possible to write a program under the X window system
to display your data, I would suggest hiring someone to do this, since
you are a novice. As for, the map of the U.S. mercator software is
avialable, not sure were, but I have some data for it.

As for is this what you want to see, Well, my writing and english is
terrible, but yours is worse. I am not really sure what you want. Hope
this helps. Sorry, for the little flames.
