[alt.books.technical] networking books

pwickman@carroll1.cc.edu (Paul J Wickman) (11/28/90)

A friend of mine wants to get into networking and asked me if he knew of
any good books on the subject that I could recommend. I figured that all
of you helpful people who read news could help me out. Any suggested titles,
authors, publishers,etc?

	thanks!

"Computer Networks" is an excellent book and it covers networks in
general. It's by Andrew Tanenbaum.

"Internetworking with TCP/IP" by Douglas Comer might be the most
comprehensive book on TCP/IP.

"UNIX Network Programming" by Stevens covers how to write software for
running over a network.
