apologies if this is not the proper newsgroup for this. it seems apropos...

has LAPACK been released for public consumption? last i checked several
months ago, it was almost ready. if it is ready, is there an ftp site?
if so, what is it?

From the last paragraph of the reply you'll get if you send the one
line mail message `send index for lapack' to netlib@netlib.ornl.gov:

    The package is currently undergoing development and testing; and
    it is expected to be ready for public release in the first quarter
    of 1991.
