[comp.benchmarks] Machine results, computing PI to 1000 digits

Summarizing net postings and also email, here is a more up
to date listing of results.  A 26line C program which
computes the first 1000 digits of PI = 4arctan(1) was
presented in article <45469@mips.mips.COM> of comp.benchmarks.

Compiling the program, typically with optimization enabled, and
timing it with /bin/time, gave the following user-cpu times:
