[comp.windows.ms.programmer] Spawn Application in Windows?

talon@dayton.saic.com (J.C. Kelly) (12/28/90)

Does anyone know which WM_MESSAGE processor could be used to spawn
another application from within an existing application?

For example, I've written an application that uses the help
utility to provide a number of project management documents. I
also need to display a spreadsheet, and would like to be able
to start EXCEL from a menu item.

Anyone know how to do this?

Please reply to Talon@dayton.saic.com if you can to avoid cloggin the
newsgroup.

Thanks,

I tried to reply direct, but the mailer insted in bouncing it.

You can use the WinExec function to call any program, in the case of Excel
you can comunicate with it using DDE after starting it.

Hope this helps.
