[comp.windows.ms.programmer] Strange behaviour in edit controls

tom@mims-iris.waterloo.edu (Tom Haapanen) (01/23/91)

Our application has a fairly large number of dialog boxes, bot modal and
modeless. Recently, it was brought to my attention that some of them
were behaving strangely. I have narrowed this behaviour down to the
following description.

In a modeless dialog box, tabbing (or backtabbing) from a listbox to an
edit control causes the edit control to become active, as it should. In
this case, however, it doesn't select the entire contents of the control
as current, but simply puts the insertion point at the beginning of the
field. The problem only occurs in modeless dialogs, and only next to
listboxes (haven't tried next to a combobox, actually); otherwise the
entire contents of the edit control are always initially selected.

Is there some style that I can specify? Or something else I can do? Or
is this a bug in Windows 3.0 (the Windows 2 version worked fine)?
